Apparently National Intern Day was Thursday.

Which feels very on-brand for . 😂

But this one deserves a belated shoutout. 📣

One of the best things you can hear at the end of a project isn't just:

“I learned a lot.”

It's:

“I learned SO much...and I had FUN.”

Because internships shouldn't just be about getting help with the work. They should give someone the opportunity to learn, contribute, ask questions, try things, and walk away with experience they can actually use.

And if they had a little fun along the way?

LET'S GOOOOO! 🙌

I'm grateful for the young talent I've had the opportunity to work with—and I'm pretty proud when they tell me the experience meant something to them.

So, ahem, a few days late: Happy National Intern Day to the interns who show up curious, jump in and make our businesses better.

And to the people who hire them: teach them something. That's part of the deal.

Summer Fridays... who remembers those? ☀️

Back in the 1900s, when I first started working in ...

The Ogilvy office closed at 1:00 p.m. every Friday from Memorial Day through Labor Day.

Picture this: bagels at our desks Friday morning. Then, at 1:00 p.m., we'd grab our duffel bags, meet up with friends, and into the subway station beneath the building.

We were heading off to our summer share house on Fire Island.

Our Friday afternoon trek of trains, taxis, ferries, and boardwalks had begun.

If we were lucky our last leg of the trip was on a bench seat atop the ferry. Where we'd enjoy the salty breeze, the setting sun and knowing we were almost to our little beach house.

Some of my best memories weren't made in the office—they started the moment we walked out the door.

Even marketers need to unplug sometimes. ☀️

So here's your Friday reminder: keep calm, turn off your phone's Wi-Fi, and enjoy the weekend. The emails will still be there on Monday.
