Coronary artery calcium score is a great imaging bio marker to tell us if there is calcified plaque in the coronary arteries. However, there are a few things that doesn’t tell us specifically when it comes to soft or unstable plaque. And honestly, the plaque we’re most concerned about is the plaque that has characteristics that it’s prone to rupture. This is especially important given the recent results of the DANCODE trial, demonstrating and reduction in calcified plaque in the participants who took D3 and high amounts of K2. Although this is hypothesis generating, we still need an event trial to demonstrate that this change makes an impact in reduced events. Personally, I’m skeptical. Comment your thoughts.👇🏼

Has a word or a phrase really bugged you and you don’t know why?
That’s how I’ve been feeling about the word consistency
I bet if you played a drinking game and took a shot every time you read/heard the word consistency while scrolling on a social media platform that gives health, wellness or relationship advice -within 5 to 10 minutes you’d be schnockered
And as a nurse practitioner, working with patients in cardiology and cholesterol disorders, it’s not like I disagree with it as concept- in fact I appreciate the discipline required to become consistent -
I just think it’s been over used to the point that it’s lost meaning and effectiveness
“Just be consistent” or “you gotta be consistent (bruh)” sounds like vague and empty advice that leaves out inevitable change, and how seasons of our lives provide us with opportunities to learn to adapt and be resilient
And on top of that-I feel like we’re being encouraged to evaluate ourselves and others based on capacity and ability to be consistent before we even gone through the work needed to develop the strength and the resilience consistency requires
I believe real “consistency”comes from establishing a sustainable rhythm and effort over time that makes room for rest and recovery rather than pushing into exhaustion or burnout-
In my own life, what helps me be consistent is developing patterns and practices so I can develop the ability to bounce back and -in some cases bounce forward - not perfect progress and definitely not linear
On a smaller timeline there have been setbacks delays ups and downs, but when viewed on a larger timeline I can see consistency as a result of trends -patterns or habits in place over the course of months -years- decades.
So what do you think? I’d love to hear others opinions and even any pushback- Comment below 👇🏼
