Welcome to the wars.
"NOW is the time for all good [wo]men to come to the aid of their country!"
The Dalai Lama famously said that Western woman will save the world, so let's give it a try. Businesswomen are in a particularly good position to increase our impact and contribution personally, and our companies give us additional options for doing good while doing well.
There are international wars with refugees, and wars here at home against poverty, drugs, racism, s*xism, agism, economic inequality, political division, climate change, a pandemic, chronic diseases, teen su***de, domestic violence, child abuse, s*x trafficking, outdated immigration laws, injustice, weather crises, water shortages, unemployment, homelessness, housing discrimination...the list seems endless.
The problem for many of us these days is overwhelm. There are so many problems, issues, and worthwhile causes. How can we prioritize? How can we focus our efforts on few enough issues and goals to really make an impact? To know how and what to give, to do, that will do the most to solve the problems we care about the most. We're inundated with requests from charities, organizations, politicians, and employees.
The Legacy Factory LLC was created in 2013 to help women design and create their own legacies, how they wanted to make the world a little better for having been here. How they wanted to be remembered. Today the need is more urgent, the world more needy. It's time to become change agents, to give back more, to put our hearts and heads together to manufacture new and innovative solutions to some of the problems we see, to increase our impact, to make a bigger difference.
I (Carol Liege) am putting my time and money where my mouth is. I will be increasing the time I spend helping other businesswomen clarify their priorities, gather information about their most impactful investments of time and money on those priorities, and helping them develop practical and measurable plans of action that maximize those investments. It's a higher use of the extensive education, experience, and expertise I haven't used much lately, and I hope that together we'll all do a better job of saving the world, one woman at a time.
