Peace verbs were coming to me, and I was carving them out of paper and putting them on the wall. It then became a podcast (and it still is!) This International women’s day I honour the great mother of us all.
Earth.
In the Irish old understanding, the Earth is the embodiment of the feminine energy. And like women in this modern world, the Earth is tired of only being valued for being pretty, young, or productive.
She is worn, depleted, and exhausted from these years of extraction, r**e, disrespect.
Where her precious creatures are only seen as pounds of flesh, tons of timber, carbon credits…. all terms of heartbreaking disrespect.
We are lost.
We are lost.
What has this way of looking at our mother given us?
Convenience? A term that could easily be renamed as disconnection.

Where is our true nature gone. Our guardian selves. Our weavers of the web.
It’s time to remember who we are.
This year, step up and restore your own patch of this planet. Release her Wild self from these bonds of impossible control we have suffocated her with. The hope we have stripped away, patch by patch, removing her communities of native plants and creatures, pushing them away, away, away.
Patch by patch we can wrap the mother with a quilt of hope and sanctuary. Together we can restore enough hope to shift this narrative from the inevitable ending, to the restorative beginning.
