Ollin Balance was created to support Small Business Owners with creating freedom and wealth doing what they LOVE and what they are most good at. Let us balance your books so you can keep your business in balance. The term: Ollin (pronounced ALL-in) comes from the ancient Aztecs and stems from the Nahuatl language. Derived from “yolloyl,” meaning heart, and “yolistli,” meaning life. “Ollin” means; to move and act with all your heart. It means that if you want to be Ollin, you have to be “All in.” (Excerpted from Kevin Hall’s book Aspire! Discovering Your Purpose Through the Power of Words)

Most Small Business Owners Start their business going all in! They have a dream and jump to! The problem is most fail to plan for the “other stuff” or think they have to be an expert in all areas of the Business. Taxes, Budgets, Projections, Checks and Balances, Time Management, Sales, Systems, Customer Service and just basic PLANNING. Only 1 out of 2 small business make it past year 5. The biggest reason being the lack of planning. Are you being most cost effective with your time? What 3 things do you do that produce the most cash flow for your company? How much time do you spend doing those 3 things everyday? If everyday where like today well your business stay alive for 3 more years? 3 more months? How much money is wasted in over paying bills and over paying taxes due to lack of planning? How much money do you pay your CPA to perform bookkeeping tasks? Do you own your own business or do you own your own job?

While both provide valuable support, their roles are very different.

A bookkeeper focuses on your financial records.

- Recording income and expenses
- Reconciling bank and credit card accounts
- Preparing financial reports
- Keeping your books accurate and organized

A virtual assistant typically helps with administrative tasks.

- Email management
- Scheduling appointments
- Customer support
- General business organization

Both can be helpful for a growing business, but bookkeeping requires financial knowledge and accuracy to keep your records correct.

Are you currently handling your own bookkeeping, or do you have support?

Tax season just wrapped up, which makes it the perfect time to take what you learned and set your business up for a smoother year ahead.

Here are 7 smart things to do right after tax season.

- Review your tax return so you understand where your money actually went

- Set a plan to set aside a percentage of income each month for next year’s taxes, adjust your estimated tax payments if needed.

- Update your bookkeeping system or processes if anything felt disorganized during tax preparation.

- Organize your receipts, financial documents, and important tax forms so everything is easy to find throughout the year.

- Identify deductions you missed so you can track them this year

- Make a plan to make sure your bookkeeping is up to date going forward

- Meet with your accountant or bookkeeper to plan for the rest of the year

Tax season should be a learning tool, not just a deadline.

What is one thing you plan to do differently before next tax season?

Most business owners look backward.

They review last month’s revenue, last year’s numbers, or their year end reports.

But very few ask:
What will my cash actually look like over the next 90 days?

Without forecasting, it is easy to:

- Pay yourself too much during strong months
- Be unprepared for tax payments
- Hire based on revenue instead of available cash
- Make reactive decisions

A simple way to start forecasting is to review your upcoming expenses, expected income, and planned payments for the next 3 months.

This gives you a clearer picture of what cash will actually be available.

If you want clearer visibility into your numbers and cash flow, schedule a call and let’s talk.

Here are a few simple cash flow hacks every business owner should know to keep money moving and avoid surprises.

- Understand the difference between sales and cash flow. Making a sale does not always mean the cash is in your account yet.

- Use a financial forecasting software for real time insights so you can see your numbers clearly and make decisions faster.

- Identify what is really draining your cash such as unnecessary expenses, slow paying clients, or poor pricing.

- Require deposits or upfront payments, especially for businesses that are heavy in materials or service work.

- Consider setting up a line of credit before you need it so you have a safety net during slower months.
