This is a beautiful condominium in Nob Hill that dates to 1914. It has views across downtown to the bay on one side, and to the Fairmount Hotel on the other. We removed and labeled each piece of trim in order to replace it properly. Why you ask? The client was CEO of a large multinational tech company and this was 1995, ramping up to the dotcom boom but pre wifi and blue tooth and streaming, and PacBell gave each residence in that area only one phone line. The CEO figured out how to get the services he wanted with just one phone line (access to 90 music albums on a server in Kansas for example was a big deal) but he needed miles of cables and many splitters to make it work. And of course he didn’t want to see any of the wiring. So I suggested we construct a wall in front of every wall and run all the cabling between the walls. And then replace every piece of trim. So we did. We also remodeled the kitchen and three bathrooms and added a wet bar and at the completion of the project the home looked almost the same as before we touched it. Which was the point.
