We’re hand-selecting 20 game-changing startup founders from across the country and across Michigan to build, scale, and thrive right here in the country’s next innovation powerhouse.

That’s the idea behind Founder Forward Michigan a new statewide fellowship built to attract, retain, and accelerate high-growth founders shaping the future of entrepreneurship.

At a time when women receive less than 3% of venture capital nationwide, over 200 founders, investors, and innovation leaders gathered at for Female Founder Tech Summit, a pivotal moment marking Michigan’s rise as a national hub for women in technology, entrepreneurship, and venture creation.

The summit convened a cross-sector network of venture capitalists, policymakers, and startup founders focused on one shared mission: ensuring women are not just participating in the innovation economy, but leading it.

It also marked the culmination of Femology’s Female Founder School, a 12-month accelerator advancing women from concept to capital readiness. Ten founders pitched high-growth ventures across mobility, digital health, education, advanced manufacturing, industrial design, and consumer tech offering proof that the next generation of scalable companies is being built right here in Michigan.

We hosted one of the most influential TECH summits in Michigan’s history and the kicker? It was female-led! Femology’s Female Founder Tech Summit brought the grit, the passion, and the ideas that are going to change the game. To every woman who pitched: you demonstrated what’s possible when women claim their opportunity to LEAD.

Michigan’s history has always been about doing things differently. Women here aren’t waiting for permission, we’re creating, innovating, and leading the way. And the numbers? They don’t lie. Women now launch 49% of new businesses in the U.S., up from 29% just a few years ago. These businesses generate over $3.3 trillion in revenue and provide jobs to nearly 13 million people. In Michigan, women owned represents 44.2% (over 900,000 companies). The reality: even though women are doing the work, they’re still receiving 50% less in loans compared to their male counterparts and despite making up half of the entrepreneurial landscape, women-led startups still get only 2.3% of venture capital.
