American Service Pets connects you with Licensed Mental Health Professionals for Emotional Support Animal (ESA) and Psychiatric Service Animal (PSA) evaluations, with documentation recommended when clinically appropriate. American Service Pets has helped more than 325,000 people nationwide connect with Licensed Mental Health Professionals for Emotional Support Animal (ESA) and Psychiatric Service Animal (PSA) evaluations. A provider licensed in your state reviews it, and if an assistance animal is clinically appropriate for you, they may recommend an ESA letter or PSA letter as part of your mental health care. American Service Pets does not issue documentation directly. An ESA letter can support a housing accommodation request under the Fair Housing Act, though your landlord still reviews it. A Psychiatric Service Animal individually trained to perform disability-related tasks may be afforded public access protections under the ADA. We know the rules get confusing, so we publish plain-language resources on what ESAs and PSAs are, and what federal and state protections do and don't cover.

Casandra and her husband got Luna four months after getting married. As a military family, Luna relocated with them everywhere they were stationed, including Japan, and was part of every stage of their life together before their two-legged kids arrived. They lost her to lymphoma in August 2026.

Wendy had Junior since she was 10 years old. He crossed the Rainbow Bridge in November 2025 at 13. He loved to eat, sleep, and play with a squeaky snowball, and in all those years he never showed a moment of aggression toward another dog or person.

Growing up alongside a pet means grieving a piece of your own childhood too.

Raya was Cassidy's adventure buddy and her best friend. She loved anything to do with water, went everywhere with Cassidy, and anyone who knew Cassidy knew Raya. She was diagnosed with liver disease and lived about a month after.

Sarah's dog Lilly could tell when her anxiety and PTSD were rising. She would rest her head in Sarah's lap and stay there until Sarah felt steady again, then settle on her blanket a few feet away. They had 12 and a half years together.

That quiet attentiveness is what an emotional support animal brings to a household, and it is why the loss lands so hard.
