FYI......

The way has finally been cleared for oral fluid testing to proceed.

Until now, there have been legal barriers that have prevented DOT from implementing oral fluid testing for DOT-covered employees.

As of yesterday, those barriers have been lifted, thanks to lots of hard work by NDASA (National Drug & Alcohol Screening Association).

When you’re responsible for inspecting, repairing, maintaining, or working on aircraft, safety isn’t just part of the job — it’s the job.

That’s why certain aviation maintenance positions may fall under DOT/FMCSA or FAA drug and alcohol testing requirements, depending on the employee’s duties and the regulations that apply.

🚨 Safety-sensitive duty means something important:
The person doing the work has to be fit for duty because mistakes can have serious consequences.

As a Substance Abuse Professional (SAP), I work with employees navigating the Return-to-Duty process when a DOT violation occurs.

✈️ Because when safety is on the line, being “almost ready” isn’t ready enough.
