Questions to ask a marketing company before hiring them, Part 3.

How often are you going to be posting on social media? If they promise a minimum of 3 posts per week, are you going to paying for more content? Is this an additional fee if you send them additional promotional or project photos? Is video editing included? These additional fees could be costing you thousands.

Growing a social media following? 5-6 posts per week, minimum. If you can post every day, great. But I know that busy business owners sometimes feel like that number is impossible.

Questions that you should be asking your marketing company: Part 2.

Who owns my data? Who has access to my website and social media accounts?

At any given time, it's a good idea to own your own data, social media accounts, and your website access, particularly your DNS records. Having additional users, even at admin level, makes sense when you bring on another team. But having your marketing firm have the only access can be a huge red flag.

When interviewing a marketing firm, there's a ton of red flags that can pop up if you've never done this before. Industry tricks that can cost you thousands of dollars in your small business.

If it's time to get some outside marketing help, ultimately to increase leads and ultimately grow the revenue of your business (that's what marketing is about, right?), there's some questions to ask so you enter that agreement eyes wide open.

A big mistake I see businesses make when times get a little tough?

Decreasing, or eliminating entirely, marketing and training.

The truth is, when the market is tough, your priority is growing your business while protecting your market share. What would be the outcome if your competitors cut back on marketing and training, while you are growing your business and profits by attracting more market share and protecting your profits?
