Does a snowstorm = snow fleas?❄️🦟

A few fun facts about box elder beetles!

-Box elder beetles get their name after the box elder tree. This is a type of maple tree that acts as a primary host.
-In the spring and summer, box elder beetles live and breed indoors. They lay their eggs on the leaves and bark on the trees they choose. Nymphs then hatch and feed on the leaves and seeds until they complete their development. This cycle takes a few weeks.
-They are neither harmful nor destructive, just quite the nuisance in large numbers!
-They are found when temperatures being to lower, since they seek shelter from the cold.

-Clean up the kitchen, and continuously wipe down countertops or areas where food is prepared.
-Take out the trash regularly, and make sure to take it out before any long trips!
-Securely package leftover food in tightly sealed containers, especially sweets!
-Avoid keeping large piles of wood near the house, despite it being bonfire season! Ants can use large pilings near homes as a path into your home.
