i2 Security Solutions attended the International Parking & Mobility Institute (IPMI) Conference & Expo in New Orleans, La. this week.

We looked for what's on the horizon that solves a problem or makes life easier for our customers. Wireless connectivity and License Plate Recognition (LPR) for a contactless parking experience are two such things. We also continue to look at gate products and accessories that the manufacturers can deliver in a reasonable timeframe, with supply chain shortages and inflation at the top of every customers concerns.

Our organization values the best practices shared and friendships formed at this excellent yearly PSA event.

For a recent project with CBS Philly, perimeter barrier gates were installed with employee proximity card access control and modifications/additions were done to existing fencing that restricts access to the surface parking lot. Our access control solution is the Brivo cloud-based security proximity card access control which is being used with current employee HID proximity cards.

Covid/Economy-Security Industry Effected by Price Increases and Parts Shortages

Mercury (Controller panels) and HID (iClass Cards) are just two of the major manufacturers facing supply shortages and reduction in their production output over the past year. Lack of components needed to build and workforce shortages are reasons behind production delays. Product delays have ranged from an extra week to up to a couple of months over normal lead times. The good news is both manufacturers mentioned have recently stated that they anticipate better delivery times during the 2nd quarter of 2022. Until we get there, what can be done proactively? i2 Security Solutions has been chosen by LifeBridge Health to replace all parking equipment at the Sinai Hospital, located in Baltimore, MD.

The hospital campus includes two garages and surface lots with eleven total lanes of traffic. The netPark cloud based parking revenue solution will seamlessly integrate with Hamilton Manufacturing terminals in entry & exit lanes, and seven pay stations will be conveniently located throughout the hospital for customer payment.

Installation is expected to be late summer to early fall this year.
