January has a sneaky way of showing up FAST. 😳

And every year, business owners suddenly realize their books aren’t quite as ready for tax prep as they thought they were.

Maybe there are months that were never reconciled.
Transactions sitting in Uncategorized.
Accounts that don’t quite match.
Or perhaps bookkeeping hasn’t been touched in... well... we won’t judge. 😉😂

October is the time to deal with it. Not January.

Bookkeepers and tax professionals get VERY busy as year-end approaches, and waiting until the last minute can mean waiting for an opening.

💙 Mental health matters.

Today is World Mental Health Day, but caring about mental health shouldn’t be limited to one day.

We never truly know what someone else may be carrying. The person who seems to have it all together may be struggling more than we realize.

So today, check in on your people. Be kind. Listen without trying to fix everything. Give someone a little extra grace. And remember to give that same kindness and grace to yourself.

There is no shame in struggling. There is no shame in asking for help. And there is strength in having honest conversations about mental health.

Your 2026 Numbers Have a Story to Tell 📊

Before you start setting financial goals for 2027, take a good look at what actually happened in 2026.

Not what you thought would happen.
Not what you hoped would happen.
What the numbers say actually happened. 📊

Look at things like:

💰 Which months were your strongest and weakest?
📈 Did revenue grow, stay flat, or decline?
💸 Which expenses increased more than expected?
👀 Were there areas where you consistently went over budget?
💵 Most importantly, did the business actually make money?

Your 2026 numbers give you a starting point for building a realistic 2027 plan based on your actual business, not a number you pulled out of thin air.

The goal isn't simply to say, “I want to make more money next year.”

It's to figure out what needs to happen differently to get there.

That's when your financial reports stop being something you look at after the fact and start becoming a tool for running your business. 💙

We’re officially in the final quarter of 2026. How did THAT happen? 😂

Q4 is a great time to take a look at where your business stands, what you’ve accomplished so far, and what you still want to tackle before the end of the year.

A few things worth checking in on this month:

☕ Are your books up to date?
🍁 Are you on track with your revenue and profit goals?
☕ How is your cash flow looking?
🍁 Are there expenses you need to review before year-end?
☕ What’s ONE thing you’d really like to accomplish before December 31?

There’s still plenty of time left in 2026. You don’t have to tackle everything at once. Pick a priority and start there.

Those are usually the numbers business owners focus on when they're thinking about growth.

But there's another number worth knowing: your break-even point.

That's the amount of revenue your business needs to generate to cover its costs before you actually start making a profit.

Knowing that number can change the way you think about your goals.

Instead of simply saying, “I want to make $500,000 this year,” you can start asking:

💰 How much does it cost to operate the business?
💰 How much revenue do we need just to cover those costs?
💰 At what point do we actually start making money?
💰 How much revenue do we need to generate the profit we want?

Because growing revenue is great. Growing profit is better.

Knowing your break-even point gives you a much clearer starting point for setting revenue goals, pricing your services, controlling expenses, and making decisions about growth.
