🎉 BIG NEWS FOR RURAL CHAMPAIGN COUNTY! 🎉

Governor JB Pritzker and the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity have announced federal approval of Illinois’ $1.04 billion Broadband Equity, Access, and Deployment—or BEAD—plan.

We are incredibly proud to share that Volo.net Internet + Tech is one of the awarded providers—and that our BEAD-funded project will expand the CONNECT Champaign County Rural Fiber Project!

This is a HUGE step toward our goal of bringing true, scalable, future-ready fiber broadband to every rural home, farm, business, and community anchor institution in Champaign County.

This isn’t simply about faster internet. It’s about ensuring our rural neighbors have reliable access to education, telehealth, modern agriculture, remote work, economic opportunity, public services, and everything else that depends on being connected today—and for generations to come.

There is still a long road ahead. Grant agreements must be completed, requirements satisfied, easements secured, permits obtained, and hundreds of miles of fiber constructed. There will be plenty of hoops to jump through and a great deal of work to do.

But today, we celebrate an extraordinary milestone.

We are incredibly proud to keep moving this legacy project forward for the betterment of the place we call home. Volo has served this community for more than two decades, and we remain committed to doing the hard work necessary to deliver lasting broadband infrastructure to our rural neighbors.
