We lost a profound member of our team last week. He was in the office the first day I walked in over 15 years ago and one thing is certain – I would not be in the position I am in today or even in this industry still without his guidance, advice, listening ear, friendship, and lessons taught.
I reference him all the time, he saved me from firing many people so they also have him to thank!! I’ll never forget the time he walked into an argument and said ‘I’m the ref, I’m blowing the whistle, it’s time to stop!” Or the time he walked into the office late in the afternoon in his bare feet with wet clothes telling us he had just walked himself through a carwash because he fell in hole at muddy jobsite and had to drive an hour and half back from the site and I’ll most definitely never forget him telling me “I’m proud of you!”
He was a man who could discuss any topic in depth, with passion and empathy, his loyalty was unwavering and unparalleled integrity was admirable. Keith Rushing created a legacy and he will be missed beyond measure. You are gone but not forgotten, you are a legend my friend.
Never diminish the power of mentorship!
