Don't Fall for Scammers Impersonating Police!
Remember these crucial points:
- Legitimate police departments will never demand immediate payment over the phone.
- They will not ask for your financial information, gift card numbers, or wire transfers.
- If you're unsure, hang up and call your local police department's non-emergency line directly to verify. Do not call the number the scammer provides.
Stay vigilant, protect your information, and stay safe!

Yesterday afternoon we have received multiple reports of a person, representing themselves as DMPD Officer Valentine, phoning residents to alert them of a warrant for their arrest for missing jury duty.
This is a scam.
We donβt know if you missed jury duty, and DMPD wouldnβt call you if you did.
We will NEVER call you and demand cash payment for a warrant, citation, etc. π‘ππ©ππ₯.
The scammers are working hard to trick youβ¦they are calling from a 515 area code today. If you receive one of these calls, hang up right away.
If you have been scammed, please call 515-283-4811 to have a real police officer come to your house to make a report.
