Here’s a thought that comes up often—you’re in a big meeting, and that voice in your head whispers, “What if I say something wrong, and everyone realizes I don’t know what I’m talking about?” Sound familiar?
This fear? It starts super young, especially for women. It begins in classrooms when girls second-guess themselves, even when they know the answer. We’re taught to play it safe, to be cautious. And as we grow, that narrative doesn’t change—it follows us into boardrooms and big meetings.
But here’s the truth: it doesn’t need to take you down.
In this photo with me are my sister and my daughter—two amazing young women who remind me daily why it’s time to change this narrative. We need to stop focusing on what we’re afraid of and lean into what we know and offer.
Focus over fear all day every day.
Here’s a simple exercise that can help:
1. Before your next meeting, take a moment to write down three things you know for sure about the topic.
2. Focus on your experience, your insight, and your knowledge.
3. When you shift from anxiety about getting something wrong to confidence in what you can bring to the table, you start showing up with a whole new energy.
It’s time for women to stop doubting and start leading—with presence, clarity, and confidence. Let’s shift the focus from fear to what we offer, and change the narrative for the next generation. Your time is now.❤️
