I will be in management and work days and have weekends off. I said that, committed to that, in August. I was however, unemployed.

6 months ago I was met with someone who refused to see my potential.I was lets go. No reason given, nothing to improve upon. I was not crushed. I was motivated. Little people think little. I know how to think big. I would find my 9-5 with weekends off for the family. I knew it wouldn't be easy, but it WOULD BE! I gave myself 6 months. 6 months do or die.
So, I set a new course and found a manager who wasn't a boss.
Every week I heard parise; "I'm so happy you joined", "We need more people like you"...
I felt as if my contribution was actually appreciated. I knew that my potential was recognized.
In 3 months I was relief supervisor.
I studied, I learned, I improved.
In 6 months I kept the hammer down.
I became supervisor.
At this point I am fielding calls from regional US management as to where and when I wish to work. I have DEA, TSA. and other agencies clearances.
I've been handed a 6:30 M- F shift in management inside of 6 months because someone saw potential. There was an opened mind person who invested in me and I reflected that.
Can't stop won't stop
The difference? I work for a team leader and not a boss.

I thought I would hate working graveyard shift. Now, I do my best to do as many exterior and perimeter patrols as I can. Cool, quiet, frogs chirping... raccoons, possums, coyotes prowling around... I'm far enough outta town there's no tweakers and little traffic... No TVs or radios, no endless chatter, no phones ringing... I enjoy the hell outta it.
