When you find a brand new delicious eatery, you don’t keep it to yourself. You shout it from the rooftops, and you share it with those that need a little pick me up.
Valdosta helped us to bring some big smiles to the family this week! When you share without expectation, you receive joy in return, and we were blessed beyond measure. 💚👣

This picture could’ve been taken of me this weekend. I was doing a quick check-in with my work email. Like most entrepreneurs, the weekends are not “time off”, but merely a slower pace of the weekday grind.

I received an email that I was not expecting, and it took me back for a bit. My carefully put together plan towards my goals was be deconstructed in a way I never saw coming. I was SO close to hitting my first goal of the year, and now I was back to square one.

As a business owner, you don’t have the luxury of letting someone else lead your team. It’s up to you. When faced with obstacles & adversity, take the easy way out? Or do you take a pause, and then take the next right step, even when it feels insurmountable?

The path isn’t always clear, and it may be down right rough. But, when you choose to pause and push to just the next right step, you’re choosing to lead with integrity.

What originally started as a way to provide an income in a schedule that works for our family has become a way to marry two passions of mine. Challenging myself, and helping others.

So taking the easy road isn’t gonna cut it. The next right step is leaning into the hard. It’s looking at the problem from every angle and finding what will work. And it’s knowing that with patience, tenacity, integrity, grit, and sustained effort, my business will persevere. Even if it’s not how I originally planned.

How have you dealt with an unexpected turn in the road of your entrepreneurial journey?

Lately I’ve been feeling all the pressure of the world crushing on the happy home we’ve worked so hard to create. Now I have known for a king time that’s it’s all in how we REACT to what’s in front of us, but sometimes the walls feel heavier than others. If you know me IRL, you know I’m NOT a RE-actor. I advocate for being PRO-active as much as possible.

I stumbled across this song a couple weeks ago and it struck a nerve with me. I was in a grumpy mood, taking others along the ride with me. It brought me to tears because it brought to my attention just how BLESSED I truly am.

In the days that have followed, I’ve changed my focus proactively. I listen to this song first thing as I’m prepping my equipment for my daily “attitude adjustment” (aka: workout) to point my attitude in the right direction for the day.

Once I’ve honored my body, and paid attention to the blessings I’ve so undeservedly been given, I can then process what’s going on in this crazy world a lot better.

Ever have moments of overwhelm? I'll let you in on a not so little secret: we ALL do! The kids have gone back to school where we are, and all those projects, loose ends, errands, and needs that were pushed to the side while they were home now NEED to be tackled. But, here's the thing. I'm not willing to give up the time I've been devoting to my health to knock them all out this week (or even next)! We may be tired, weary, worn out, and plain exhausted, but we're going to get there.

This morning I drug myself out to get my workout done even though I was NOT feeling it. The only way I was going to get through it was to focus on one exercise at a time. It was a struggle the first few moves, but by the 3rd or 4th one I was in a groove, and my workout was done before I anticipated.

To keep our household (and my business) moving during these strange times, I've learned to delegate. The kids have taken on a couple extra chores that pair well with their strengths. My husband has generously taken several of the tasks off my list. And I've also learned that the house doesn't HAVE to be in tip top shape before I go to bed each night. (But the sink still MUST be empty! 😂)

By forcing myself to delegate, I've freed up more time for me to be the best possible version of myself, and do more of the things I am skilled at. Not to mention the sense of responsibility, teamwork, and pride our kids have been learning by having a couple tasks on their list that benefit everyone.

This is the same concept as having a VA on your team. You help to delegate the tasks that need to be done to free up time for you to do what you enjoy and do best. What tasks are you ready to delegate? I'll share what I delegated in the comments.

This is what the very tail end of a cross country move looks like. A second explosion into my office that was almost organized. I’d love to say my office will be picture perfect when it’s done, but the reality is, it won’t. It’s a multi-functional room, but it’s all about the many aspects that have brought me to this place, with these skills to help you so you can do what you love to do! This office also helps to hold a lot of my favorite things, and is the very first time I’ve laid claim to a space to be all mine. (Well, I do still share the space with my handsome husband, but he has generously given me 99% of this office.)

I’m so excited to get this cozy little space finalized and do a tour for y’all! So tell me, what would you be putting in these organizing bins? I’ll show you what I am putting in them when we do the official tour!

As promised, I’m taking you along as we unpack, reorganize, and settle in. I needed to find a way to keep what little paper records we have organized. After looking around online I found lots of options, but many were more than my desired budget. I found this old, beat up filing cabinet at a thrift store and thought “I can redo that!”. The nice gentleman kindly loaded it in to my car & off I went.

Truth be told, I’m always looking for a reason to use my husband’s power tools, so I got right to work sanding this puppy down.

I’ve never redone furniture in my life, but fear isn’t something I let hold me back. A good sanding session, some wood filler, sanding again, a couple coats of paint, and wax and voila! I even got to have some good quality time with my mini me since she helped to pick the color & handle k***s!

Next up, helping my husband make my desk for my “office”. Have you redone or built furniture when you couldn’t find exactly what you were looking for?

Some days you have to sit back & laugh at the absurdity of what life throw our way. Other times we get to learn from the small humans we are sure we’re supposed to be teaching. And then others it’s a combination of all of the above.

Today was a combination day when our daughter decided to have some fun with our super old & arthritic dog while he endured her silliness with the ease of an old family member that knows that sometimes it’s better to let things go rather than fight them.

And, in that vein, im going to invite y’all along on my shenanigans when it comes to pulling my “office” together. These days I’ve taken to working wherever there’s space available. After long & arduous cross-country move, we’ve finally landed at our final destination, and are doing our best to settle in. We’ve only been here about two weeks, but most of the house is setup. With the exception of putting up pictures, and unpacking my office.

Join me for an adventure in design on a dime, office setup, and doing it all while enduring the Coronavirus obstacles. I promise you’ll get a real life glimpse into my world, and probably get a laugh at the same time.
