A new preclinical study published in JID Innovations evaluated the timing of RECELL® treatment following enzymatic debridement with NexoBrid® in a porcine deep partial-thickness burn model.

Researchers used digital image speckle correlation (DISC), a noninvasive method that measures how mechanical force travels through healing tissue. A new case series in Cureus describes the use of RECELL® combined with high-expansion 1:9 Meek grafting to treat partial-thickness burns of the posterior trunk—an especially challenging area because constant pressure, shear, and exudate can compromise graft adherence and cell retention.

In two cases, RECELL supported epithelialization between the MEEK graft islands. Despite the difficulty of treating posterior trunk burns, both patients achieved epithelialization in about two weeks, suggesting this combined approach may help accelerate wound closure while conserving donor skin.

A new systematic review published in the Journal of Plastic, Reconstructive & Aesthetic Surgery provides the first comprehensive synthesis of the global clinical evidence supporting RECELL® for burns and wounds. Spanning more than two decades, the review identified 99 publications from 13 countries, reflecting RECELL use in a broad range of patients, wound types, wound sizes, and treatment algorithms.

Across 27 comparative studies in the analysis, RECELL consistently reduced donor skin requirements, while healing, pain, aesthetic, and health-economic outcomes were generally favorable or comparable to alternative treatments, with only a small subset of studies favoring comparators.

Collectively, the findings of this systematic review reinforce RECELL as an evidence-based innovation in a growing body of clinical evidence across burn and wound care settings.
