A special project and a great morning celebrating the people bringing it back to life!
Jim, Lindsay, and Luke Trout joined Indiana Landmarks on Sunday for the House of Tomorrow Insiders’ Brunch in Beverly Shores. Jim was on hand to answer guests’ questions about the “all-glass house,” share details about the glazing work, and explain some of the challenges involved in restoring such a unique building.
Originally built for the 1933 Century of Progress Exposition, the House of Tomorrow is the final home from that collection to undergo restoration. Trout Glass & Mirror is proud to be part of preserving this piece of architectural history—and with a house like this, the glass is a pretty big part of the story!
A key part of our work was preserving the home’s original design intent while incorporating modern glazing technology and framing to improve energy efficiency. Maintaining that historic appearance while bringing the glass and framing systems up to today’s performance expectations took careful planning and collaboration.
Projects like this take years of planning and skilled craftsmanship. Thank you to our TGM team and skilled union Glaziers, our partners at Kawneer and Trulite Glass, and everyone involved for the work that has brought this restoration so far.
A special thank-you to Indiana Landmarks for including us and hosting a wonderful morning. As a family-owned company, getting to share a project like this with the next generation makes it even more meaningful.
