This family wanted an accessible central space for the toys to be stored for their toy rotation. Their twins can now choose what toys to play with and there is space in their room to put the toys away when they’re done. If the kids want to play with something else, they can take a bin from their room and switch it with a bin from the central toy area.

This is a Montessori inspired space for an infant. All toys were in view and reach of the baby aside from the pillow toy on the top. The black bin was used for clean cloth diaper storage. While there are too many toys for a baby to manage putting away on their own, it’s a manageable amount for an adult to help clean up when baby is done playing. The remainder of the toys were stored elsewhere for a weekly or biweekly toy rotation.

Hi! My name is Nicole Acuña and I'm the owner of Polished Playrooms. I am a mother of one and have previously worked as a teacher and nanny.

I decided to become an organizer because I've noticed for years how parents can quickly become overwhelmed by the amount of toys in their homes. Playrooms, and sometimes the rest of the house, become a wild jungle of toys. Small pieces from different toy sets get mixed together, and it's more than a busy adult can manage especially while the kids are home.

I want to help parents create a space that is functional and manageable for kids so families can spend more time enjoying each other and less time trying to tame the toys.
