This writer misses the point on Siri, Cortana, Alexa, Now and Amy. This is v1.0 of this technology where distribution/integration of the tool is keep to enabling later development.

See my prior post on using a cell phone watch to control WiFi devices. With that in your mind, remove your hand movements and don't bother buying the watch. Instead just "talk" while your cell phone mic is enabled ... this is the magic.

When technology functions like "Magic" is when it becomes fun. This tech is much more than drones and Apple.

Conceptually building "glue" between apple watch and IFTT style applications isn't a huge leap or terribly complex but it does look magical.

PVD+ plans to port code to Android and it'll be fun plugging that into any WiFi or bluetooth enabled device.

If you want this tech now without the watch or want to see what else could quickly be connected to your Droid/Apple watch visit

Thanks to a new algorithm from the researchers at PVD+, you can now control lights and even a drone via an Apple Watch and simple hand gestures.

Very cool, my Nexus5 is on-track to last over 24 hours on a charge which is better than when factory clean when I got it and far better than the 8 or less hours it was lasting without recharging.

If you have a similar issue with your android phone here are the big changes that made the difference:

* WIFI SETTINGS: Yes the bug fix helped but really it is the entire auto connect to unsecured wireless and the searching for such that is the issue. Applying the fix got phone closer to 8 hours than 6 hours but it didn't "fix" battery issue. Turning off auto discover networks and related settings really did a better job. I just enable them when I want to find a new network (rare) and it still connects to home/office wifi automatically.

* GMAIL: disable it which returns app to factory default, disable auto update of it, and turn off all sync features. This application was eating up over 25% of my battery and worse yet keeping WiFi on. You'll want to re-enable sync once a week to ensure backup occurs but otherwise no. Please note that your other email boxes (i.e. Exchange, IMAP or even other GMAIL boxes) will continue to sync just fine just don't sync your primary GMAIL account.

* GOOGLE SETTINGS: disable/opt out/don't report everything under Google in settings. I did leave the security protections and can see the battery hit for such.

* TASK KILLER: "Advanced task killer" set to aggressive closes applications left open when phone is not in use. It doesn't harm background tasks but does allow phone to sleep.

* GPS: Only allow advanced (high power) GPS on Waze but otherwise use low battery. Once done then turn GPS off until you need it on. It just drains battery and gives no benefit.

* UPDATES: Tone down app updates to only what you need.

Google has said that the Nexus 5 has been affected by an 'mm-qcamera-daemon' that leads to shorter battery life.

The iPhone 4S won't be out for a few more days, but those with older devices can start seeing improvements Wednesday.

Don't want to pay a cell phone tethering charge? Try PDAnet and you'll be happy. I've been using it for several years and it is reliable and stable.

Use your Android phone as Wireless Modem, USB Tether, Bluetooth DUN, Wireless Router

FUTURE: Adding a real email system to Facebook would make Social Media Marketing and Customer Relations Management just that much easier. Let's hope Monday's launch also includes full IMAP/POP.

This whole Facebook Mail thing is getting curiouser and curiouser. After our post on Facebook taking control of fb.com, a number of people have reached out to say that mail.fb.com actually resolved to mail.thefacebook.com (that doesn't seem to be the case for all people). What's interesting about
