TODAY, June 9th is our 8th Anniversary! Year 7 started off with a bang and went out kicking and screaming. We won some and learned some. We're celebrating this journey!

People called Delena brave (and reckless and naive and a whole lot of other interesting things) for starting a consulting business to make sure helping didn't hurt. She didn't know what was possible - and no one knew if we'd make it to year 2, 3, 4, 5...but we beat the odds, found our vision, and built a community that is beyond what we could hope for.

Turns out, relentless isn't a bad thing - and we've been relentless about building relationships we don't have to heal from. We've messed up, we've been messed with, and we're still here - brave, bruised, and EXACTLY who and where we are meant to be.

We've learned hard lessons, stumbled, grown, and realized that year 8 is not gonna go easy on us... and we're just not interested in anything less...

Not by a long shot.

So, we aren't throwing a party this year. We ARE giving away 8 kickass prizes to say thank you for being part of our work and helping us get to what we KNOW will be an adventurous 8th year.

No. Don't ask him. Don't make healing someone dependent on whether you like their answers to difficult and complex questions.

Heal them. Heal them every time. Heal them when they don't deserve it and heal them when they do. Heal them even if they keep getting themselves sick. Just heal them.

We want to spread the word about an important documentary screening in Portland on May 2 and 3. This story and the film itself are a must-see for all those who want to explore or begin to understand the complexity of sons, brothers, and how generational pain unfolds, entwines and begins to heal. Sam Now Movie

This film is a gift of healing and a challenge to all of us as we navigate repair, longing, and the subjective perspectives we hold about one another's needs.

The filmmakers and their team took such care with offering resources and links for trauma-informed care, healing, and mental health.

Stitching together 25 years of home videos and filling the gaps in the archive with play, Sam Now is a mosaic of love, longing and loss, and an attempt to overcome intergenerational trauma.

We're pretty big fans of Adam, and we're grateful to have had access to his work on elevating youth voice and improving the systems that serve youth.

This book and the tested strategy it offers should be required reading for any adult working with youth.

Once in awhile, we make connections that blossom into growth, learning, building, and become more than you could have imagined.

This has been one of those partnerships. We are lucky to be part of the community-building and life-changing work of this organization. ☆♡☆♡
