Waste Connections

Waste Connections ecycling is important for the simple reason that it helps eliminate waste which is having a negative effect on our natural environment. Recycling can help.

The amount of pollutants being released into the air is less. Harmful chemicals and greenhouse gasses are released by trash and rubbish, and neither of them are good for the environment. The production of new products by manufacturers is very energy intensive. It is much less costly to use recycled products. Less raw material is used, and in turn helps the rainforests. Deforestation and its habita

t destruction is causing global warming. Recycling also keeps chemicals and other harmful substances from leaching into our groundwater supply. One of the sad things I read is that from space, one can see the Great Wall of China and also the Staten Island landfill, the landfill that services the New York City area. Recycling helps eliminate the need to use expansive tracts of land for waste storage. People must understand that the money saved by recycling can be substantial, and the cost to dispose of waste that is not recycled is also substantial. It is far better to recycle trash and waste and turn it into useful products then pay to have the trash and waste removed. It's a no brainer. Recycling is also helping us to use our natural resources wisely and have enough left for generations to come. Guidelines are available on the website on topics such as auto, computer, glass, paper, water and electronics recycling. Composting, ecology, waste management, and ecosystems are also covered. Video's, podcasts, current news and timely articles are available. There should be no reason why people can't recycle. A full report, "Everything You Wanted to Know About Recycling, But Never Dared to Ask, should open everyone's eyes to the need for recycling.

Yesterday I volunteered an event to help set up a carnival at martin Luther Kind Elementary for, my child. To my surprise, my daughters school turned recycling into an, educational matching exercise. So yes my daughters school recycles everything! One of the employees commented on, how they will be taking the kids on a field trip to my work. I asked if they could take the kindergarteners so, Victoria can see her mommy on the paper line and, I got a maybe. I am very proud of my daughter also the school she attends. Keep up the good work schools!!!!!!!

"The old Lakota was wise. He knew that man's heart away from nature becomes hard; he knew the lack of respect for growing, living things soon led to a lack of respect for humans too. So he kept his youth close to its softening influence."

-- Luther Standing Bear, OGLALA SIOUX

When we live in nature it's like constantly being in school. We are in an environment that is always teaching. We are constantly being reminded hat there are laws, Natural Laws, which are running the universe. Once we know these laws and we drift from them, we start to live our lives in a different way. Soon we become discontent, selfish, and disrespectful. Then, we get in trouble. If our lives have become this way, it can be reversed by going back to nature to be among our teachers.

Great Spirit, teach men, again, the Natural Laws.

For the residents of Vancouver WA. 14. Where can I recycle plastic grocery sacks and baggies and what happens to them?

Most local stores have bins for recycling plastic bags. These bins are lined with large plastic bags and these bags full of bags can be baled or compacted with the same equipment the stores use for their empty cardboard boxes and are worth at least as much per pound as the boxes, often to the companies that buy the cardboard. The bags may go to companies making plastic lumber or other products here in the U.S., or be exported to Asia for similar uses there.

I just wanted to add that a lot of people have the attitude that, O you just work at the junk yard! Well I am here to tell you that, the good we do for our electric conservation and, pollution conservation, rain forest, tree's, wild life, ect. is miraculous in that we help save rather than destroy what god so lovingly created for our welfare and, health. Without a healthy planet all humans would cease to exist. If you want to be involved start by sharing my page with all of your friends. These information are valuable and, I want to get everyone involved. It all starts at home! There are designated recycling companies away from the norm that you can drop your plastic bags off at rather then sending them to the recovery center. See http://www.plasticbagrecycling.org/plasticbag/index.html Please keep up the good work recycling Thank you
