My wise stepmother Dusty used to say something that stuck. "God allows us to experience tough times so we can appreciate the good." I thought of this today.

In case you didn't read my last post. "There's an adage a historian once called a law of history, true of every society across the ages. The adage is, only when it is dark enough can you see the stars. I know many people feel like we are entering a dark time, but for the benefit of us all, I hope that is not the case. But here's the thing, America, if it is, let us fill the sky with the light of a brilliant, brilliant billion of stars." Spoken by Kamala in her concession speech.

I pray we all let our lights shine so our country can heal.

I have great memories of starting up Dragonfly 360, Inc. 6 years ago with my hubby Allen Geertz Look at us!!! 🥰

Establishing relationships with the businesses we serve has been so rewarding, interesting and enjoyable. We both are blessed to have had a full career with many great mentors and friendships that have blossomed along the way. Allen's retired but I'm going to continue this fulfilling work!!

Friends and families protect your money!! Please share!

Global fraud is estimated to be over $5 trillion dollars and it comes in a number of forms. This notice reminded me of that. As a licensed CPA who has studied forensic accounting, I've heard too many sad stories of people getting scammed, resulting in damaged credit, loss of money, retirement funds and even their homes.

NEVER give out your personal information to a caller who says they're from your financial institution, non profit, utility or from a company saying you won a prize!! Too many scams these days. If they say call this 1-800 number to verify, don't call the number they give you. Take time to do due diligence. Call the contact number listed on the website for your financial institution, etc and verify they truly called you. Be careful though. Even websites can be fraudulent. They could look like a valid website but may have a "-" or ".org", etc to route you to a fake site.

This advice includes being cautious about what you purchase online.... clothes, vacation packages, etc. Check website address for only reputable businesses like Amazon, you can verify through Better Business Bureau!

I wanted to share some exciting news. I was asked to teach 2 evening classes at WSU in October and November in addition to continuing my consulting services through my company Dragonfly 360, Inc. As you may know I am a CPA with MBA and over 25 years in leading business transformation projects.

I get no added kick back financially from WSU to promote them. They pay me a fixed fee. You may want to consider signing up or promoting on your page or network as "goodwill" to help entrepreneurs, leaders and learners. Only 15 hour commitment per class.

"Leading with Finance" will give many companies with individuals interested in learning about accounting and finance a foundation and edge. I have led many multimillion dollar transformation projects and my numbers background gave me an edge for getting buy-in quickly to lead process and system change over other leaders. One project my predecessor tried to get off the ground for many years, it took me only a couple weeks because of my ability to use numbers and examples to pitch the project.

This class in October will help entrepreneurs, project managers, engineers, IT, HR, Board members, supervisors and individuals considering a career in accounting. Important for individuals to know that the first class is not just for "bean counters".

I am creating my own custom curriculum and with over 25 years accounting and transformation experience, I plan to incorporate helpful tidbits that target a variety of audiences.
