If you’re currently a Reach Fiber Network (RFN) customer and want to avoid service disruption, now is the time to line up a new provider.
Spear Broadband is already live on the Port of Woodland’s open-access fiber network and is actively taking on customers who want a stable, long-term ISP that shows up, pays its bills, and supports the community.
The Port of Woodland has shared important context below regarding RFN’s termination. We strongly encourage customers to review their statement and begin planning next steps sooner rather than later. We’re here to help make the transition as smooth as possible.
The Port of Woodland Commission voted Friday to terminate the lease with Reach Fiber Network (RFN), effective the end of the day, February 27, 2026. The motion received unanimous support by the Commission. "The Commission was intentional," says Chris Herman, Executive Director, Port of Woodland, "minimize disruption by allowing customers time to establish alternative service while providing RFN more time to develop a plan. Many customers have paid for service with RFN through February and ought to be able to receive it." RFN has until the termination date to establish a payment plan with the Port to make lease payments totaling over $66,000 going back to June, 2025.
The Port of Woodland's dark fiber network is an open access system, allowing multiple Internet Service Providers (ISPs) to lease fiber and provide high speed broadband service to the home. In fact, Port of Woodland's Ariel to Cougar network currently has two ISPs, RFN and Spear Broadband, both providing popular and competitive high speed internet service up to 1Gbps. In the coming days and weeks the Port will be communicating with customers and providing more information on options they have to continue to receive fiber-to-the-home service.
