I attended the National Unpublished Writers Day workshop in Vancouver this past weekend and learned from so many talented writers in our community. If you are a writer in the Vancouver/Portland area and looking to get into the publishing world, I highly recommend putting this on your calendar for next year. It’s an annual event held on the last Sunday in January. I will post the 2018 date and location when the details come out.

But it’s not too late to take advantage of other local opportunities for writers. The annual Professional Writers Series has begun at WSU Vancouver. It’s a series of presentations featuring a variety of genres and styles. Presentations are free to the public.

Take advantage of these writing events and workshops as a way to improve or refine your craft and network with other like-minded folks. If you reside outside of the Vancouver/Portland area, look for similar events in your local community.
