Referral Partners?"
30-Second Recap
Good morning everyone,
Last week we spent time learning more about each other's businesses because the better we understand what our fellow members actually do, the better referrals we can provide.
A referral isn't just handing someone a name. A great referral solves a problem. When we truly understand a member's ideal client, services, and expertise, we stop giving random referrals and start delivering targeted opportunities that have a much higher chance of turning into business.
The more we know about each other, the stronger our chapter becomes.

BNI Referral Challenge Game
"Who Am I?"
Instructions:
• Read each question.
• First person to answer correctly wins a piece of candy, gift card, scratch-off ticket, or BNI bucks.
• Keep score if you want and crown a "Referral Champion."

Question 1
A homeowner notices water stains on their ceiling after a heavy rainstorm.
Who in our chapter should they call first?
(Answer: Roofer)
Teaching Point:
Many people would call a handyman first. Knowing the right professional creates a better referral.

Question 2
A business owner says:
"I have plenty of customers, but I'm spending hours every week chasing invoices and following up with leads."
Who in our chapter could help them become more efficient?
(bookkeeper .) We need one.

Question 3
A customer just purchased a new home and needs:
• Insurance
• A mortgage review
• Landscaping
• A painter
• Financial Planner
How many referrals can we generate from one conversation?
(Answer: Multiple chapter members.)
Teaching Point:
Every referral conversation usually uncovers several referral opportunities.

Question 4
True or False:
"If I don't need a member's service personally, I don't need to learn about their business."
(Answer: False)
Teaching Point:
Most referrals come from listening for opportunities in other people's lives.

Question 5
A business owner says:
"My website looks nice, but nobody is finding me online."
Who should they talk to?
(Answer: You, Rick / Digital Marketing Professional)
Bonus Question:
What are the two things we focus on most?
(Answer: Visibility and Lead Generation.)

Question 6
Which is more valuable?
A) Giving someone a business card
OR
B) Personally introducing two people who should meet
(Answer: B)
Teaching Point:
Introductions create relationships. Relationships create referrals.

Question 7
What is the most powerful asset in this room?
A) Our businesses
B) Our products
C) Our network
(Answer: C)
Teaching Point:
Every person in this room has access to hundreds of relationships. Together, our network is worth millions.

Closing Thought (1 Minute)
Here's what I hope everyone takes away today:
The purpose of learning each other's businesses isn't to memorize facts.
It's to recognize opportunities.
Every day, people around us mention:
• Home repairs
• Legal issues
• Financial concerns
• Marketing struggles
• Insurance questions
• Health needs
When we truly understand our referral partners, those opportunities become obvious.
The members who receive the most referrals are usually not the members with the best sales pitch.
They're the members whose fellow BNI partners clearly understand:
• What they do
• Who they help
• What problems they solve
Weekly Takeaway
"The quality of the referrals you give is directly related to how well you know the people sitting around you."
And remember:
"A stranger gives a lead. A trusted partner gives a referral."
Thank you, everyone!

BNI Educational Moment:

Planting Bamboo: Why BNI Success Takes Time
Good morning everyone,
Today, I want to share a lesson that perfectly reflects what it takes to be successful in BNI.
It's called The Chinese Bamboo Tree Principle.
When a Chinese bamboo tree is planted, something remarkable happens.
During the first year, you see almost nothing.
The second year, still almost nothing.
The third year, no visible growth.
The fourth year, nothing above the ground.
At that point, most people would conclude that the seed failed.
Most people would stop watering it.
Most people would quit.
But what they don't see is what's happening beneath the surface.
During those years, the bamboo is developing an extensive root system. It is building a foundation strong enough to support incredible future growth.
Then, in the fifth year, something amazing happens.
The bamboo can grow more than 80 feet in just a few weeks.
The question is:
Did it grow 80 feet in a few weeks?
Or did it spend five years preparing for that moment?
The answer is obvious.
The growth happened because of the years of unseen work.
BNI works exactly the same way.
Many people join a networking group expecting immediate results. They attend a few meetings, hand out a few business cards, and hope the referrals start flowing.
But the most successful members understand that BNI is not about instant gratification.
It's about building roots.
Every one-to-one meeting builds trust.
Every referral builds credibility.
Every testimonial strengthens relationships.
Every meeting attended demonstrates commitment.
Every visitor invited helps strengthen our chapter.
These actions may not produce immediate results, but they are creating the foundation for future growth.
And then one day, just like the bamboo tree, the results start appearing.
The referrals become more frequent.
The relationships become deeper.
The opportunities become larger.
The chapter becomes stronger.
And your business begins to grow in ways that once seemed impossible.
As we focus on growing our chapter and bringing in new members, remember this:
Every visitor we invite today is a seed.
Some seeds take time to grow, but the chapters that consistently plant seeds are the chapters that experience extraordinary growth.
So don't judge your success by what you see today.
Judge it by the roots you're building through your relationships, your consistency, and your commitment to the BNI philosophy of Givers Gain®.
Because the strongest businesses, the strongest chapters, and the strongest relationships are built the same way bamboo grows—
Slowly at first, invisibly for a while, and then suddenly in a way that everyone notices.
Thank you.
Weekly Takeaway
"Success in BNI isn't built in a single meeting. It's built through consistent actions, strong relationships, and the patience to let the roots grow."
