Effective 12:00 pm on Thursday, September 3, 2026 Western Lane District will move to an Industrial Fire Precaution Level 1 (IFPL1) in areas WT-1 and SL-2.

For the general public, we are decreasing to LOW (Green) fire danger on September 3, 2026.

Effective at 12:00 noon, 09/02/2026 Western Lane District will change Fire Danger to Moderate/Blue. Most non-industrial equipment must shut down between 1PM and 8PM.

Yet again this morning, we are experiencing a heavy amount of drift smoke in the area from out of District fires. It is very hazy and we are getting multiple calls.

We have resources out in the field checking reports and all reports point to drift smoke so far.

If you see flames/ a defined column of smoke or observe someone burning, please continue to report these activities. General rule: Burning is still not allowed.

Given the improved weather in the Coast Range:

Effective 12:01am Monday, August 31, 2026 Western Lane will change the IFPL to 2 for area WT-1. We will remain at level 2 in area SL-2 and High/Yellow Fire danger for the public.

We are not out of fire season yet! Remember back yard burning is NOT allowed at this time. Only you can prevent forest fires! Thank You!

Western Lane has been getting lots of phone calls this morning about smoke in the area... Crow, Greenleaf, Wolf Creek, Horton, Veneta. We have units out on patrol, checking all reports. So far we are only seeing drift smoke rolling in from outside of our District.

If you see something other than drift smoke like the following: a column, confirmed fire, flames, smoke color (black, brown, white) please continue to report this information.

Western Lane District to remain at an IFPL 2 in the coastal zone (SL-2), and an IFPL 3 (WT-1) in the valley zone. We will also remain at HIGH fire danger.

Despite lower temperatures and a chance of precipitation later today and through the weekend, the Western Lane District will not be changing the Industrial Fire Precaution Level (IFPL), which are regulations for Forest Operations only.

Being in drought conditions, the larger fuels will remain critically dry and will not be affected much by a few days of lower temps and light precip. In addition, temperatures are expected to bounce right back to the upper 80's to lower 90's early next week.

The reprieve is certainly welcomed, but will be short-lived.

Effective 12:01 am on Friday, August 14, 2026, Western Lane will move to an IFPL3 (Industrial Fire Precaution Level 3) in area WT-1. Area SL-2 will remain in IFPL2.

For the general public, Fire Danger remains at High (Yellow).

Effective Monday, August 10th, 2026 ODF Western Lane will go back into Industrial Fire Precaution Level 2 for WT-1. Everything else will remain the same as follows:

FIRE DANGER➟High/Yellow

The next three days are expected to bring critical fire weather conditions to ODF Western Lane District. Forecasts call for temperatures near 100°F, very low relative humidity, and dry northeast winds. These conditions can allow even a small spark to quickly become a fast-moving wildfire.
