Last week, I had the absolute privilege of joining Duquesne Light Company on the local CBS affiliate KDKA-TV’s Pittsburgh Today Live to highlight the real power of induction cooking ⚡️

Alongside Sarah Olexsak, DLC’s General Manager of Electrification Solutions, we ran a side-by-side comparison between a portable induction hob and a commercial-style gas range. The results weren’t even close! Induction far outperformed the larger and much more expensive gas unit in speed, control, and overall consistency. It was a perfect example of how this technology is reshaping the future of cooking.

For the segment, we prepared a Christmas-inspired dish: seared skirt steak with parsnip puree and an orange cranberry chimichurri. We finished it with toasted chestnuts and pomegranate arils, creating flavors that honestly felt like waking up on Christmas morning. If anyone wants the recipes, I’m happy to share them.

Even better, making the switch to induction is becoming even more accessible. Beginning next year, the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection will launch the PA Energy Savers program, offering families up to $840 toward an induction range. Additional savings are also available now through the Act 129 incentive program.

It was a joy working with Sarah, Emily Phan-Gruber, Ashley Macik, Emma K. & all the other wonderful professionals, and I can’t wait to share what’s on the horizon for 2026.

As many of you know, the recent hurricanes have caused devastating damage across the Southeast region, leaving many communities in need of urgent relief and long-term recovery. In light of this, I am asking for your support as we come together to raise money for the victims affected by these disasters.

All proceeds from our fundraising efforts will be donated to Mercy Chefs, a nonprofit disaster relief organization that provides professionally prepared meals to victims, volunteers, and first responders in the wake of natural disasters. Since their founding in 2006, Mercy Chefs has served millions of meals, bringing both sustenance and comfort to those in need during some of the darkest times.

We owe a special thanks to Chef Keith Coughenour for suggesting we support Mercy Chefs—an incredible organization that aligns with our values of service and care for those in need. We are proud to support their efforts, knowing the funds will go directly to disaster relief and long-term recovery efforts, helping families rebuild their lives.

Many people are worried about the word “ban” but for us this is about sharing the information needed to make the right choice for your family!

Currently there is no ban but instead trying to share the information to move towards a safer alternative.

I’m so excited to announce that I will be returning to Chatham University Eden Hall Campus, the place that started it all, to shoot a project with PBS NOVA this Thursday October 13th.

It’s been a crazy journey and who would’ve guessed that within 2 years of departing I would be going back with a camera crew. Life is a beautiful thing and I can’t help but feel blessed that our message is resonating so strongly.
