We’re pleased to be welcoming Grant Slagle, D.O. to SouthEast Eye Specialists, expanding access to specialized cataract and anterior segment care for patients throughout Southeast Tennessee.

Dr. Slagle will be serving patients in Athens, Chattanooga, Cleveland, and Soddy Daisy, providing advanced surgical expertise while working closely with local optometrists and referring providers to support coordinated patient care close to home.

🎬 What an incredible day in Birmingham!

The 2026 VisionAmerica Birmingham Symposium brought together an outstanding group of eye care professionals for a day filled with meaningful education, fresh perspectives, great conversations, and valuable connections.

There was a tremendous energy throughout the event. Our faculty delivered engaging, clinically relevant presentations, attendees brought thoughtful questions and discussion, and the opportunity to connect with colleagues from across the eye care community made the day even more impactful.

Today we’re celebrating National Different Colored Eyes Day and the unique beauty of heterochromia.

Heterochromia occurs when a person’s eyes are two different colors, or when one eye has more than one color within it. While it can simply be a beautiful natural trait, any sudden change in eye color or vision should always be checked by an eye care professional.

July is Eye Injury Prevention Month — a reminder that protecting your vision starts with everyday choices.

Eye injuries can happen at home, at work, during sports, in the yard, and especially around fireworks. The good news? Many eye injuries are preventable with the right precautions.
Simple ways to protect your eyes:

✅ Wear protective eyewear when working with tools or doing yardwork
✅ Use sports eye protection during play and recreation
✅ Handle household chemicals carefully
✅ Use extra caution with fireworks and follow all safety guidelines
✅ Seek medical care immediately if an eye injury occurs
