Famiglia Vigna

Famiglia Vigna Alexandro Tonetta immigrated to the United States from Tyrol, Italy in 1909, having been a farming family for generations, growing wine grapes and olives.

Upon arrival, he purchased land and established a vegetable farm in Vineland, also growing grapes. That farm, located on Dante Avenue, later operated by his son, Alex V. Tonetta, is still in existence, nearly 100 years later, now being operated by his grandson Alex R. Tonetta. Alex R. Tonetta and John Sperratore, known affectionately as the “Two Pops” formulated a plan for what has become “Famigli

a Vigna”, Italian for Family Vineyard, in order to establish a sustainable business model for future generations. It was decided that a portion of the original farmstead be dedicated to the growth of vinifera and table grapes and in the spring of 2014 the land was cultivated and the first planting of over 1300 grapevines took place.
