Executive presence isn’t about having the loudest voice in the room. It’s about how you show up when the stakes are high.

Executive Presence by Leadership PRO helps senior leaders strengthen the skills that shape how others experience their leadership: clarity, confidence, composure, communication, and influence.

Because at the executive level, your presence is never neutral. The way you communicate priorities, respond under pressure, and engage your teams sends a message about what matters.

Build the presence to lead with intention.

David Ehrmann will take the stage at the DrillSafe Conference in Brisbane on September 2 to share lessons from one of CAVU’s most compelling operational case studies.

His presentation, “Back to the Future: Transformational Steps in Operational Leadership, Human Performance, and Crew Resource Management,” will explore how the Banyu Urip drilling operation used Human Performance, Crew Resource Management and sustained field-based coaching to strengthen both safety and operational performance.

Across 701 operational days, the operation achieved:

• 94% near-perfect operational days
• 2.2M+ workforce hours without an HSSE or process safety incident
• First oil 12 months ahead of plan
• Full production 10 months ahead of schedule
• Recognition as the safest rig in the contractor’s 48-rig fleet

The case study demonstrates an important principle: proactive safety and strong operational performance are not competing priorities. The same leadership behaviors can drive both.

📅 Event Date: 2nd September
⏰ David Ehrmann presenting: 1:25 PM
📍 Location: VOCO Brisbane City Centre

We look forward to connecting with the DrillSafe community in Brisbane.

Great safety performance starts long before the work begins.

CAVU coaches work alongside leaders and frontline teams to strengthen the human side of performance, helping crews communicate clearly, recognize risk, make better decisions, and lead effectively when it matters most.

From the pre-job brief to the decisions made in the field, our focus is on building the behaviors and leadership practices that support safer, more reliable operations.

A view worth stopping for.

CAVU Coach Craig Yohe captured this shot while working offshore in the Gulf of America. After 24 years of service in the United States Marine Corps, including nine deployments, Craig brings decades of experience in leadership, teamwork, and performance under pressure to the crews he works with today.

Different environment. Same fundamentals: strong teams, clear communication, and leaders who are ready when it matters most.

The way an executive enters a room, communicates a priority, responds to pressure, and follows through all shape how teams interpret what matters.

Executive Presence by Leadership PRO is designed to help senior leaders strengthen that impact with greater clarity, consistency, and intention.

Because executive presence isn’t performance. It’s leadership people can feel, understand, and trust.

New technology doesn’t eliminate human risk. It changes where that risk shows up.

This week at the IADC Advanced Rig Technology Conference, Rear Admiral (Ret.) Dell Bull presented “New Tech, Same Human: Lessons from Carrier Aviation for the Rig of the Future.”

Drawing on decades of experience in U.S. Naval Aviation, Dell explored what tends to break first when new technology is introduced into high-consequence operations: roles, handovers, and confidence.

His message for the drilling industry was straightforward: as automation, remote support, and advanced systems continue to reshape operations, leadership practices have to evolve alongside the technology.

That means clarifying decision ownership, protecting critical communication, training for abnormal conditions, and creating a strong learning rhythm as new systems are introduced.

The rig of the future will be more advanced than ever. But it will still depend on people.

David Hazell will be representing CAVU at the upcoming IADC HSE & Sustainability Europe Conference, September 22–23 in Amsterdam.

David will join the panel discussion, “When Procedures Meet Reality: The Human Side of Operational Performance,” exploring what happens when even the best procedures meet the realities of complex operations, competing demands, and human performance.

At CAVU, we know operational excellence isn’t achieved through procedures alone. It requires teams that can communicate effectively, maintain situational awareness, make sound decisions, and adapt when the plan meets the real world.

We’re looking forward to an important conversation around the human side of safer, more reliable performance.
