🍂 Cool nights are here — but cockroach pressure isn't dropping the way most homeowners expect along the coast.
Every fall we run the same call: pepper-grain droppings inside a kitchen cabinet, a musty odor under the sink, a nighttime sighting in the laundry room — and a homeowner surprised the "summer roach problem" they thought had ended is still going strong.
Three things keep coastal cockroach pressure high through October and November:
🪳 German cockroaches breed at full speed inside heated homes — their reproductive cycle doesn't feel the weather change
🪳 American, Oriental, and smoky brown cockroaches migrate indoors through foundation gaps and crawl-space vents as soil temperatures drop
🪳 Coastal humidity holds well above the level where roach reproduction would normally slow, even after a strong cold front
The most reliable warning sign? Any daytime cockroach sighting — nocturnal species break cover in daylight only when harborage is overcrowded.
We just published our fall cockroach playbook — species ID, six prevention steps, warning signs to watch for, and why coastal conditions make DIY sprays actually backfire.
