September is World Alzheimer’s Month, a time to raise awareness about dementia and the importance of early diagnosis.

This year’s theme, “The Earlier You Know, the More You Can Do,” also resonates with the work we do at TREEL. An early diagnosis can give individuals and families valuable time to plan, including reviewing estate planning documents, establishing or updating powers of attorney and health care directives, considering long-term care needs and making important financial and legal decisions while a loved one can fully participate.

Planning cannot change a diagnosis, but it can give families greater clarity and help ensure a loved one’s wishes are known and protected.

This World Alzheimer’s Month, we encourage families to start the conversations that can make a difference later.
