It's freezing out there! π₯Ά
Here are a few tips to make this situation a little more comfortable for you:
1) Fill your bathtub with water so you can use it to flush your toilets if your pipes freeze.
2) Buy bottled water for drinking and/or cooking.
3) Don't drive anywhere unless absolutely necessary.
4) Fill your gas tank in your vehicle just in case you have to drive somewhere.
5) Get a battery powered lamp or flashlight so you can see at night inside your home.
6) Battery powered charging stations are good for charging cellphones and small electronics.
7) Have plenty of winter clothing, blankets, sleeping bags, gloves, etc. to help you stay warm if you lose power.
8) Have plenty of food on hand that will last at least a week - just in case!
9) Get some shoe spikes to avoid slipping and falling when walking on icy surfaces. A fall on a sidewalk or driveway can be disastrous, especially for the elderly!
10) If you have an all-electric home, get an indoor safe gas heater and cook stove in case you lose electrical power.
11) Don't forget to let your faucets drip and open cabinet doors to allow warm air to circulate around your indoor plumbing!
12) Keep you thermostat at 60Β° minimum to avoid freezing of indoor plumbing and make it easier to keep warm inside your home.
