Happy Labor Day to all the good people out there who work hard all year… and then work even harder today trying to look like they’re not working at all. 💪😂

Shoutout to:

- The grill masters putting in 12-hour smoke shifts

- The pool float engineers maintaining peak relaxation

- The strategic nappers executing flawless couch dives

- And the unsung heroes who volunteered for cooler-stocking duty and now have frostbite on their fingertips

Labor Day isn’t just a holiday — it’s the Olympics of pretending you’re “taking it easy.” And honestly? Gold medals all around.

Happy Labor Day, Good People. You’ve earned that burger, that nap, and maybe even that extra slice of pie.

Good People are Everywhere – Even on Trash Day 🚛💨

A few days ago was trash day, and of course it happened to be one of those hold onto your hat windy mornings. As I was heading out, I noticed a trash can tipped over in the middle of the road.

Just then, a young man in a truck came upon it. Most people would’ve just swerved around and kept going. But not this guy. He stopped, hopped out, picked up the can, moved it safely back to the curb, and drove off like it was no big deal.

He probably didn’t think much of it - but I did. Because that simple moment reminded me: kindness doesn’t have to be grand to make an impact. Sometimes, it’s just taking a second to do the right thing.

Good People Post: The Checkout Chat That Made My Day 🥕💬

Sometimes kindness shows up where you least expect it - like the checkout line at the Homestead Market.

I was just grabbing a few things. Tired. Distracted. Thinking more about my to-do list than the veggies in my basket.

But the woman working the register greeted me with the kind of warmth that immediately snapped me back into the present. She asked how my day was going - not in the robotic “I-have-to-say-this” kind of way, but like she actually wanted to know.

We ended up chatting for a few minutes while she rang me up - about kids, recipes, and how everyone seems to be in a rush these days. She smiled the whole time. Not forced. Just genuine, easy kindness.

I left feeling lighter than when I walked in. No grand gestures. Just a reminder that simple, human connection still exists - and matters.

Here’s to the Good People who make the world softer in small, unexpected moments. 👏

This week’s Good People spotlight is shining a little closer to home - on our very own Dwight, co-founder and all-around cornerstone of Eleserv.

If you know Dwight, you know this: he leads with his sleeves rolled up and his heart wide open. Whether it’s hopping into a client meeting, fixing a broken chair, or helping you figure out how to get jelly out of a keyboard, he’s the first to say, “What do you need?”

He’s the kind of leader who doesn’t just ask how your weekend was - he remembers that your kid had a game, your dog had a vet visit, and you were trying that new recipe you were nervous about. And no matter what’s on his plate, he always finds time to lift someone else up.

We’re lucky to have him - and even luckier to learn from him.

Here’s to the leaders who serve, support, and show up. And here’s to Dwight - one of the real good people. 🙌

Good People Post: The Lotion Legend at Checkout 🛒🧴👶

The other day, I was shopping with both of my kids—my arms full of groceries, snacks, and chaos. As I started unloading the cart, I realized my one-year-old had somehow squeezed her leg into one of those tiny slats in the shopping cart seat. Not the normal leg hole—no, no—she went rogue.

Her leg was stuck stuck. Cue the crying. Cue the panic. Cue my 7-year-old also crying. Cue me… trying very hard not to join them.

I rushed inside to ask for help, barely forming a sentence through the anxiety. The woman at Customer Service didn’t flinch. She glanced at the situation and—like some kind of everyday emergency response unit—grabbed a jumbo bottle of lotion from behind the counter like it was a fire extinguisher.

She knelt down, calmly talking to my baby while gently lathering up her leg, and within seconds—pop—free leg. Happy baby. Extremely grateful mom.

It was a scary moment for me, but not for her. She handled it like it was just another Tuesday. No drama. No fuss. Just kindness and quick thinking.

So here’s to the quiet heroes with lotion behind the counter and nerves of steel. You’re one of the Good People. And we see you. 👏

Good People Post: Civil Servants Still Serve 🚓🌾

Driving through a remote stretch of Kansas recently, I came across a car pulled over with a flat tire. The woman beside it looked overwhelmed and stranded.

Then I saw him—a Kansas State Patrol officer, down on one knee, in full uniform, in unseasonably hot weather… changing her tire without hesitation.

He wasn’t posing for a photo. No lights, no fanfare. Just quietly helping someone in need.

Civil servants don’t always get the recognition they deserve, but moments like this remind us how much good they do—often without anyone noticing. I didn’t catch his name, but I saw his character.

Here’s to the helpers who show up with humility, kindness, and purpose. Good people are everywhere. 👏

Good People Post: The Great Playground Rescue

You haven’t truly lived until you’ve seen a child climb confidently to the very top of the playground… only to realize mid-victory pose: they have no idea how to get down.

There he was—arms clinging to the top bar like he’d just summited Everest, voice cracking with a mix of pride and panic, yelling, “I’m STUCK!”

Enter: the real MVP of the playground—a slightly older kid who calmly walked over, looked up, and said, “It’s cool. I’ve been stuck there before.”

With the swagger of a playground paramedic, he scrambled up, coached him step-by-step, and guided our mini-adventurer safely back to the woodchips. Then? A fist bump. No big deal. Just Good People being good—even when they’re only four feet tall.

Here’s to the brave rescuers, patient peer mentors, and the tiny humans already making the world a better place—one stuck friend at a time. 💪👏

Good People Post: The Helpful Umbrella

Last week, I was caught off guard by a sudden downpour while running errands downtown. As I stood under a tiny awning, contemplating my next soggy steps, a woman walked by with a bright yellow umbrella and paused.

She looked at me, smiled, and said, “I’ve got room under here if you’re headed that way.”

So we walked together down the block—two strangers sharing a small patch of dry space, chatting about the weather and how it always seems to rain hardest when you’re least prepared.

She didn’t have to stop. But she did. And that small gesture turned a dreary moment into something warm and kind.

Here’s to the Good People who find a way to share their umbrellas—literal and figurative—when the world starts to pour. 🌦️

Good People Post: The Chair Whisperer at the Ballgame

Last weekend at my son’s baseball game, I found myself in a battle with a particularly stubborn fold-out chair. You know the kind—looks simple enough, but it’s like wrestling an octopus in disguise.

Just as I was about to give up and resort to sitting on the grass, a parent from the other team strolled over. He gave the chair a once-over, smiled, and with a flick of his wrist, had it set up perfectly. It was like watching a chair ninja at work—no sweat, no struggle.

He said, “These things have a mind of their own, huh?” before heading back to cheer for his own kid.

A little moment of kindness from a stranger—no big deal to him, but it made my day. Here’s to the Good People who show up with a helping hand, no matter how small the task. 👏

Good People Post: The Mug Lifesaver ☕️

You know that one favorite mug—the one that somehow makes coffee taste better and mornings feel possible?

Well, mine mysteriously vanished. Vanished like it had joined the witness protection program. Days passed. Suspicions rose. I mourned.

Then one morning, it reappeared on my desk. Clean. Warm. Full of coffee. With a sticky note:

“Rescued it from the conference room. Figured it belonged to someone who really needed it.”

No name. No fanfare. Just stealthy kindness and the perfect caffeine delivery.

Here’s to the Good People who notice the little things and quietly make the day better.
