This first week back to school was hard... it wasn’t hard because of the kids. They were incredible actually! It’s a great group of kids and they are doing awesome wearing their masks all day! I have loved every second of being in my room with them!! I certainly missed it!! It was hard because of this new norm we are all getting use to. It’s hard to not see my kids smiling every single day while we do silly things and laugh together at a story we’re reading. It’s hard because I don’t get to see the whole ah-ha moment when they finally get it. It’s hard not being able to see every single face in a sea of “plexiglass” shields while I’m doing small group at my table. It’s hard to talk all day long while wearing a mask. This new norm sucks!! But I’ll tell you what because of this new norm this will be one resilient group of kids! I look forward to the day I get to see their smiles and get to do our “secret” handshakes in the hall when we say good morning. I look forward to my daily hugs that I already miss so dearly! I will NEVER take those moments for granted again. NEVER.
