ISR of Charleston Many parents don’t realize the dangers of introducing young children to water
before they have the skills to survive. The
Sooner, The Safer!

Before your baby can feel confident to
safely enjoy the water, he or she must first learn the skills needed for survival. ISR is the safest provider of swimming lessons for infants and toddlers
worldwide. With more than 40 years of research and development behind ISR's
Self‐Rescue™ program, ISR teaches each child survival skills in conjunction with
basic swimming lessons that give them the compete

nce required to safely enjoy
the water. Complacency happens to even the best parents, and is extremely dangerous…
Every day children in the United States reach the water unsupervised and end
up in a potential drowning situations. Every time your baby doesn’t fall into the
water it can reinforce the idea that they can be left alone for “just a second.” The
best safeguard is not to rely on your baby’s past behavior, but to equip your
baby with critical water survival skills taught by ISR Instructors. Empower your child by enrolling him or her in ISR’s Self‐Rescue program.

Today is May 1st, the first day of Water Safety Month. We would like to honor Jake today, and remember to Live Like Jake. Remember, drowning is the leading cause of unintentional death in children ages 1 -4. LLJ provides self rescue with scholarships to families nationwide and support to families who have lost a child to drowning.
Much love to you and your family Keri Evans Morrison

SURVIVAL STORY. From Nancy Mitchell Morris
9/24/17:

Last evening, the reason we did ISR (survival swim lessons) for Arden happened. We ate with some out of town friends early evening. Arden wanted to go outside "one more time" and asked our friends' friend that was eating with us to take her. She didn't have to, but she nicely agreed. While right outside the restaurant, Arden tripped while running and fell into the water at Shem Creek. Dirty, murky, boat filled Shem Creek.
A man (that I can't find on FB!) named Gabe Ebner jumped in fully clothed to grab her but not before she had POPPED UP AND FLIPPED OVER ONTO HER BACK. Thank God, really thank him, for this stranger who was willing to ruin his dinner and his night with friends and thank God for Becky Waller Bentz who taught her the skill of surviving an accidental fall into the water.
Initially after it happened, I was strangely calm, although obviously extremely thankful, but I really did not want our friend's friend to think it was her fault and I did not want to upset Arden more. Two year olds think it is funny to run away from adults and that could have happened to anyone (even Gil or me). It was only after Arden was showered and asleep safe in her bed that I start crying thinking of what could have happened.
If you are, or ever will be, around the water, PLEASE GET YOUR CHILDREN SWIM LESSONS, ISR or any others, that will get them to the surface of the water so that someone can rescue them or so they can rescue themselves.

So thankful to be with fellow great ISR instructors for annual recert training in Jacksonville!

Eleven-month-old Michael Baxley was plopped in the water face first and immediately began moving his little arms and legs until he made it onto his back, and then just floated. There was water in his face and he was crying, but he was alive.

FACT: More children die or are seriously injured every year from drowning than automobile accidents yet we study, analyze and critique the safety of the carseats we use RIGOROUSLY....and then we casually put our children in swim lessons without asking the right questions...."What will they learn? What is your training? Will you teach them to hold their breath PROPERLY on the first day? Will you help them become comfortable so they don't PANIC in a real life emergency situation?" and we trust their LIVES to $5 inflatable arm bands. ISR isn't a means to get kids to swim early so we can not have to watch them around the pool anymore...It's the LAST line of defense and the BONUS is that they learn to swim early. But I can assure you, your heart and soul will be at ease KNOWING that you did everything you could to prepare them. I'm so happy to be a part of the team that is making a difference in a global drowning prevention strategy.

Thank you Isr Sara Neal for posting!
