Wakefield Firefighters Local 1478 The Wakefield Firefighters Union, Local 1478 is an organization that represents the firefighters of the Town of Wakefield, Massachusetts.

As a public safety union, we carry greater responsibilities in the community than traditional labor unions. Local 1478 is an advocate for the health and safety of the citizens of Wakefield. Our current membership consists of 49 dedicated firefighters who are ready, willing and able to serve you each and every hour of the day, each and every day of the year.

During times of unimaginable loss, it is important that we stand together as a fire service family and support one another. Behind every uniform is a brother, sister, friend, spouse, parent, or loved one who matters.

If you are struggling, please reach out. Talk to a brother or sister, a friend, a family member, or someone you trust. You do not have to carry it alone, and asking for help is a sign of strength—not weakness.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the families, friends, coworkers, and union brothers and sisters during this difficult time.
