If you receive an IRS Notice 5071C on your personal 1040 tax return, it is not a fraudulent notice. Please make sure you have your 2019 and 2018 personal tax returns with you when you call the IRS as they will ask many verification questions from these documents. Refunds are taking 8-9 weeks at this moment, even longer if you are requesting a paper check.

Any business owner who has received PPP loans from the SBA needs to accurately track use of these funds in order for forgiveness of the loan. Small business owners who are hit hard with the COVID-19 situation may apply for a loan through the Small Business Administration. Go to www.sba.gov/ and follow the prompts to file an application online. It takes some time with everyone applying and the system being extremely slow so plan on 3-4 hours minimum.
