We get alot of calls regarding getting a specialty license. All too often the application is delayed, or denied because the correct application was not filled out and submitted.

One of the most important parts of you DBPR application submission is filling out the correct application, the second is to make sure your work experience matches the scope of the license you are applying for.

Your experience should demonstrate:

✅ Hands on experience in the specific trade
✅ Experience performing or supervising work within the requested scope
✅ Detailed project and job responsibilities
✅ Verification of your experience when required
✅ Experience thay meets Florida licensing requirements

Simply having years of construction experience does not automatically mean you qualify for every specialty license

Ready to apply for your Florida Certified General (CGC) Contractor License?

Passing the exam is only the first step of the process. Your application must also demonstrate that you meet Floridas experience, qualifications, and application requirements

📌 Florida Statute 489.111 lays out the requirements for certification by exam including

Age and character requirements ( there are statutory requirements for good moral character)

Qualifying experience
( A four year degree can count towards a portion of your experience)

🛑YOU MUST HAVE ONE YEAR OF WORK ON A FOUR STORY PROJECT

📋 Then there is the application itself:
The CILB application requires detailed information about your experience, personal history, business information and supporting documentation. DBPR requires specific application forms for Certified General Contractors. Choosing and filling out the wrong application can be a costly mistake, one that we see often.
