Ever had one of those moments where you look at your kid’s homework assignment and just… stop? This week's guest, Pooja Kothari, didn't sugarcoat it. When her child asked what propaganda meant, she didn't give some textbook definition. She told them the truth: sometimes, the system just doesn't tell you the whole story. She's raising her kids to question everything, even what comes home in their school bags.

Do you hold back the tough conversations, or do you dive right in? Let’s talk about it.

Think the cannabis industry is just for growers and budtenders? Think again. The truth is, this rapidly evolving sector is desperate for the same professional expertise that every other established industry relies on—and that includes you.

Whether you’re a seasoned attorney, a digital marketing wizard, or a banking specialist, your years of experience are actually a superpower here. The industry is full of unique nuances, and businesses are actively hunting for people who can bring transferable skills to the table to solve their specific pain points. If you’ve spent decades mastering a trade, imagine applying that wisdom to a fresh, high-growth market where competition is low and the demand for professionals is skyrocketing. It’s time to stop thinking about your career path in a straight line and start seeing how your background fits perfectly into this new frontier.

Last week was a whirlwind! In addition to a few ongoing client projects and preparing for graduation season, for the 2nd year, I have had the pleasure of kicking off the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards (NCARB) Board of Directors meeting here in DC. This year’s topic: Accountability Without Fear,” where we focused on next-level questions for clearer oversight, better information, and stronger follow-through.

You know the message lands when a board member says, “Can you stay the whole weekend? We love having you with us!”

Then I had the opportunity to speak to a class at the University of the District of Columbia on entrepreneurship. After sharing my journey with them, I gave them my P.L.A.N.S. Framework - Purpose, Limitations, Actions, Network, and Self-Care. Thank you, , for the invitation!

It’s been a week!! Don’t believe the foolishness that inclusion work is gone. It moving forward and it’s global.

This week, I had the opportunity to be on the other side of the podcast microphone and joined the .work podcast out of Romania. Yesterday and today I facilitated sessions at the Inclusion Maine conference. The work is still happening.

More to come!

I’m speaking at the 2026 WGR DEI Summit on April 29–30, focused on advancing belonging and inclusion in government relations and policy. Despite the pushback, the conversation is not over. The need for thoughtful, honest dialogue about belonging, inclusion, and how we support people in the workplace remains as important as ever.

Is corporate commitment to inclusion merely a performative trend? While many brands and organizations publicly champion inclusion, the internal reality often tells a different story.

New data from the RAND Corporation’s 2024 study reveals a stark disconnect, highlighting that Black and female small business owners in the e-commerce sector continue to battle systemic barriers in financing, mentorship, and institutional support. Even in spaces touted as more progressive than traditional markets, the gap between the rhetoric of inclusion and the actual experience of entrepreneurs remains wide.

A critical look at why these systemic disparities persist despite years of public advocacy.

It's long overdue. The time is now. Find your people and forge your own way forward.

One phone. Nine minutes. A single act of courage that shifted the course of history. We often underestimate the power we carry in our pockets, but Darnella Frazier proved exactly how one person’s decision to document the truth can spark a global movement. She didn’t set out to change the world, she simply refused to look away from the harm unfolding right in front of her. It’s a powerful reminder that witnessing and speaking up matters—sometimes, it’s the catalyst for justice we didn't even know was coming.
