If you’re a business that provides a service to people they must pay for, shouldn’t you engage in effective communication? Since the pandemic the compassion for basic humanity in customer service just vanished. It sucks. I bet you if George, Ben & Abe and plastic vanished too, you’d die to find ways to do better. Where the money come from out your direct deposits? People! Act like it!

Group interviews has pros and cons like anything else. Manufacturing companies use this method because they're probably growing and need mass production and because their turnover rates are high. However, group interviews leave candidates feeling like generics. No one in HR actually pays attention to the details of the application, to see if one has a special set of skills or credentials. That can leave a person feeling unvalued for what they have accomplished and may be able to do for that company as well, hence, leading them to go somewhere where they are actually appreciated.

For companies that have high turnover rates and can't figure out why, your open door policy isn't good enough. Try an exit survey. Then again, it's pointless if you're not going to listen to the people. Evaluate first the people they dealt with on the job, and then the processes. I bet if you did the survey, you'd find that 76% had an issue with people they dealt with that caused them to quit which should lead to interpersonal development training.
