NEWSPAPER: MEMBER OF KINGSMEN ORDERED SHOT

Investigators believe Marc "Knot Head" Knotts ordered other members of the Outlaws Motorcycle Club to shoot a member of the Kingsmen MC last month.

The incident occurred just outside the Circle K gas station in Leesburg, Florida. A report in the Orlando Sentinel alleges "Outlaws Motorcycle Club members forced" Donovan "to his knees" and shot the Kingsmen member "in the back" when he refused to remove his club colors.

Police called the shooting "a coordinated attack."

Donovan died as a result of the shooting. Six different law enforcement agencies, including the FBI, are investigating the homicide and other biker violence in the Sunshine State.

According to police, “The ‘Outlaws’ had been challenging several motorcycle clubs throughout Florida to either join their ranks or submit to their authority."

"We witnessed similar incidents in Milwaukee in the 1970s and early 1980s," said retired Milwaukee Police Department Homicide Lieutenant Steve Spingola. "The Outlaws demanded the Heaven's Devils drop their club's patch. When they refused, the ongoing feud took eleven lives. In Florida, the feds are getting involved early and will likely use sweeping racketeering statutes to compel testimony."

POLICE: BIKER WAR BREWING IN FLORIDA

Last evening, WFTV Channel 9 in Orlando reported a statewide biker war is brewing in Florida, and six law enforcement agencies, including the FBI, are now involved.

"Sources say the Outlaws have been trying to bully groups all over the state," said Channel 9's Myrt Price.

"There's certainly been friction throughout the state [between the Outlaws and other one-percent clubs]," said Leesburg Police Lieutenant Joe Iozzi.

In Daytona Beach, a member of the Outlaws was stabbed to death just outside the Crooks Den tavern. Investigators allege the suspects are members of the Pagans. On April 29, a member of the Kingsmen was shot and killed in Leesburg. Police believe the still unidentified shooter is a member of the Outlaws.

"What is happening in Florida is eerily reminiscent of what took place in Wisconsin in the 1970s," said retired Milwaukee Police Department Homicide Lieutenant Steve Spingola. "The Outlaws are trying to tap down any real or perceived encroachment from rival clubs. In Wisconsin, eleven people, several of them innocent women and children, lost their lives."

UPDATE: Leesburg, Florida police have "arrested" two members of the Outlaws MC alleged to be involved in a deadly shooting on April 29.

Detectives located 48-year-old Marc Knotts at the Outlaws' clubhouse in Ocala. Jesus Marrero, age 35, was taken into custody a few miles away. Investigators also issued arrest warrants for two other men, Miguel Torres and Gregory Umphress, for conspiring to murder a member of the Kingsmen MC, David Donovan.

A police spokesman told the press the suspect responsible for shooting Donovan fled the scene and has yet to be identified.

MAN SHOT BY OUTLAWS MEMBER IN FLORIDA DIES

A member of the Kingsmen Motorcycle Club, shot by a member of the Outlaws Motorcycle Club in Leesburg, Florida, on April 29 has died. The Leesburg Police Department is now investigating the incident as a homicide.

Forty-one-year-old David Donovan argued members of the Outlaws MC at the Circle K gas station. Guns were drawn and shots fired. Outlaws' member Marc Knotts was also shot, but survived because he was wearing a ballistic vest. Donovan succumbed to wounds sustained in the shoot out yesterday.

OUTLAWS, KINGSMEN SQUARE OFF IN FLORIDA SHOOTING

After exchanging gunshots at a festival in the central Florida town of Leesburg, one member of the Kingsmen MC, 41-year-old David Donovan, and a member of the Outlaws, Marc Knotts, 48, laid wounded.

Donovan and Knotts were both taken to area hospitals and are expected to survive. A police lieutenant said that both will be charged with aggravated assault.

"Add the Kingsmen to the list of the Outlaws' enemies in Florida," said a source. "And don't forget the Pagans," who authorities believed stabbed and killed Outlaws member Christopher "Louie the Lip" Keating near the rear door of the Crooks Den tavern in Daytona Beach in early April.

FUGITIVE OUTLAWS MC MEMBER ARRESTED IN CHICAGO

Wanted in connection to the murders of Hells Angels' members "Mad Mike" Qaule and Jack Castle, Outlaws MC member Orville Cochran -- on the lamb for 16 years -- was arrested yesterday for shoplifting in suburban Chicago.

The Chicago Sun-Times reports that Cochran "went on the run and was thought to be out of state for a time, harbored by fellow Outlaws or their sympathizers, sources said."

I discussed the stabbing death of Qaule and the the vicious murder of Castle in my new book, "You Gotta Be Dirty," available now at Amazon. https://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss_2?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=YOU+GOTTA+BE+DIRTY

POLICE CHIEF TAKES AIM AT PAGANS MC AFTER RIVAL BIKER STABBED TO DEATH OUTSIDE FLORIDA TAVERN

Daytona Beach Police Chief Craig Capri referred to members of the Pagans Motorcycle Club as "cowards" and threatened to shut down the Crooks Den tavern, where a member of the Outlaws Motorcycle Club was stabbed to death earlier this month.

"We’ll run him [the owner of the Crooks Den] out of here, too, if he doesn’t get on board,” Capri told the Daytona Beach News-Journal, after learning the the tavern's owner, Steve Kline, allegedly told bar patrons not to contact police in the aftermath of the stabbing.

A long time member of the Outlaws, fifty-nine-year-old Christopher "Louie the Lip" Keating was killed just outside the rear door of the Crooks Den. Police believe that they have video of the suspects and hope facial recognition software from the FBI's Next Generation Identification system will identified the killers.

The stabbing death is eerily reminiscent to the murder of John Werner at the Untouchable MC's clubhouse in Sheboygan County, Wisconsin. OUTLAWS, PAGANS RUMBLE IN FLORIDA -- ONE DEAD

An apparent barroom disagreement has left Outlaws MC member Christopher " Louie the Lip" Keating dead from stab wounds. The murder occurred outside the rather fittingly named Crooks Den -- a Daytona Beach pub patronized by bikers.

A spokesman for the Daytona Police Department believed that Keating was seen arguing with members of the Pagans, a rival one-percent motorcycle club. “Oh my God, no!” an unidentified witness told a 9-1-1 operator. "The guy [Louie the Lip] is bleeding to death, that’s what matters!"

There were thirty people inside of the Cooks Den when the altercation went down and, amazingly, most apparently claimed to be crammed into the bar's two small restrooms.

The altercation is eerily reminiscent of the Outlaws' March 1994 raid of J.R.'s Watering Hole -- a Calumet City tavern patronized by the Hell's Henchmen. I chronicled the destruction of J.R.'s Watering Hole in my book: "You Gotta Be Dirty: The Outlaws Motorcycle Club In & Around Wisconsin," available now at Amazon and Barnes & Noble.

OUTLAW BIKERS' FLAMBOYANT ATTORNEY WORKS HIS MAGIC

A colorful and controversial figure, Alan Eisenberg was the Outlaws Motorcycle Club's go-to defense attorney. Considered a gadfly by some Milwaukee County Courthouse insiders, Eisenberg's aggressive and sometimes discourteous demeanor enabled the attorney to play the judicial system like a fiddle.

When a member of the Outlaws was charged in an alleged racially motivated stabbing death, Eisenberg managed the voir dire process so well that an all-white jury was selected. The defense attorney then employed a self-defense claim to minimize the racial epithets hurled by his client. After the trial, Eisenberg viewed himself as the legal system's equivalent to Don Quixote.

WHAT OTHERS ARE SAYING

I received a note that was passed along by a Wisconsin library instruction and reference specialist regarding my new book, "You Gotta Be Dirty: The Outlaws Motorcycle Club In & Around Wisconsin."

"It [You Gotta Be Dirty] is a thorough academic study and is a good example of a subculture for our sociology students," the librarian wrote. "A good example for our writing students about the importance of documentation, and a good example of the long view of justice for our law enforcement students."

The proprietor of a true crime podcast also chimed in. "Thoroughly enjoyed You Gotta Be Dirty - congratulations on a excellent book."

The small group with I spoke with today at Spencer's Coffee in Bowling Green, Kentucky asked some very good questions -- very nice people.
