The torpedo is back at Mountwood.

VOLCANO — The centerpiece of the memorial honoring submariners lost during World War II which was removed from Mountwood Park in May to be cleaned and repainted is back in place at the park. There was a flag raising ceremony this morning at 10 am in Mountwood Park at the Submarine memorial marking the end of the restoration of the torpedo project. Project Healing Waters donated a new flag for this memorial. We also want to thank Pifers Towing for using their rotator to remove and replace the torpedo so we could bring it to our shop for restoration. Thanks to Sherwin Williams - Vienna for donating the paint needed, Danser Inc for making a new band to go around the torpedo, Elite Security for the use of their man lift to access the flag pole for repainting. Special thanks to Greg Echard for coordinating this ceremony and thanks to Robert Sweeney for bringing this project to our attention. We were very honored to work on this project. If we forgot to thank anyone that was involved we are sorry but know we really appreciated everything. The Marine Corp League raised the new flag. Thanks everyone.

Got the torpedo placed back at Mountwood today. It was a great experience working on this. Did some research on the torpedo itself it's a Mark 14 this particular one was made in 1944 during WW2. Seth and Mike did the final touches on this today and it really turned out nice. Thanks to Pifers Towing for removing and replacing the torpedo with their rotator, Sherwin Williams in Vienna for donating the paint, Danser Inc. for manufacturing a new metal band to go around the torpedo, Elite Security for the use of their man lift to access the flag pole. This was a great project.

We are making headway on the Mountwood Park USS Cisco Memorial torpedo. Here are some of the progress pictures. We are hoping to get this completed and return it to its spot in the Park soon. We have completed most of the work on site at the memorial in the park after the weather cleared up some. We've had three generations working on this restoration with my grandson, my son and myself working on it.
