Would you know if your carpet was hiding moisture?

We found moisture trapped underneath the carpet and along the edge of the flooring. We pulled back the affected carpet, checked the moisture levels, and got the area properly dried.

Ever wonder what happens when water gets underneath your carpet?

In this case, the carpet had to be pulled back to expose the concrete underneath. We removed the affected materials, extracted the water, and brought in drying equipment to properly dry the area.

Water in the basement can spread farther than it looks.

We recently had a basement like this where water had collected across the floor. We extracted the standing water and set up drying equipment to help get the area properly dried.

Imagine this - it rained heavily yesterday, then
this morning you noticed a small wet spot on
your ceiling.

"Ah, it'll dry on its own" - that's usually our
first reaction, right?

But here's the thing - water damage doesn't stop
just because the surface dried. The water has
already seeped inside, soaking into the drywall,
insulation, and framing. Slowly weakening everything.

Then one day, it gives up. This is the result.

What's probably happening behind that small stain:
• Water spreading behind the surface
• Materials getting weaker each day
• Mold starting to grow
• Damage getting worse (even if not obvious)

Just want to be give awareness. Better to address it early than be surprised later.

Mold doesn't always look like mold.

It's not always black spots. It can show up as green or yellow staining low on a wall, like this, long before anyone thinks to worry about it.

Check the bottom few inches of your walls near corners, closets, and plumbing. Peeling paint there usually means moisture has been trapped behind it.

If you see it, find the water source before you repaint. Not sure how bad it is? Send a photo, happy to take a look.

After a spill, leak, or small flood, it's easy to assume that once the carpet feels dry, the problem is solved. But moisture can soak into the padding and subfloor underneath and stay trapped there long after the surface looks fine.

One simple thing you can do if you experience it is lift a corner of the carpet and check the padding and subfloor directly, especially near walls, cabinets, or furniture legs. Dark staining or a musty smell usually means moisture sat there far longer than you'd expect.

If you've had a leak or spill recently, don't assume dry on top means dry underneath. And if you're ever unsure, no harm in asking someone who’s professional to take a look.

Homeowner Tip: After a Flood, Look Beyond the Water

When flood water enters a home, it’s natural to focus on getting the standing water out. But there’s another important part of the cleanup: finding where the water traveled.

Water can move underneath flooring, behind baseboards, and into lower parts of walls. Some areas may look dry on the surface while moisture is still trapped underneath.

If your home has been affected by flooding, take a few minutes to look around nearby walls, flooring, closets, and cabinets—not just the areas where you can see standing water.

A sewage backup is one of those home problems where the first reaction is usually, “Where do I even start?”
The first step is to keep people and pets away from the affected area. Sewage water can contain contaminants, so it’s not something you want tracked through the house.
If it’s safe to do so, stop the source of the backup and avoid using sinks, toilets, or appliances that could add more water to the affected plumbing.
Another helpful tip: don’t move contaminated items into clean areas of the house. That can spread the mess farther than the original problem.
