Picking the correct size dumpster can be an important aspect of any project. Choosing a dumpster that's too small for your needs can be costly. Too small of a dumpster can result in downtime. Causing you to have to wait on it to be dumped and returned, and by adding additional dump and rental fees from the smaller dumpster needing dumped more often than a larger dumpster.
The industry standard for measuring the size of a dumpster is cubic yards. A cubic yard is equal to 3'×3'×3'. A common mistake we hear from potential clients is referring to a 20 yard dumpster as 20 foot dumpster, or asking what length of dumpsters we carry. A dumpsters length is not relevant to the amount of debris it can hold. For example our 20 yard dumpster is 14' Long by 7.5' wide by 6' tall with a tapered bottom(commonly referred to as a "tub style"), whereas another companys' 20 yard dumpster may be 22' Long by 8' wide by 3' tall with a straight wall bottom(commonly referred to as a "rectangle style"). Both dumpster have drastically different measurements and characteristics, but both dumpsters hold the same volume of debris.
