Raccoon f***s can pose serious health risks and should be treated as a biohazard. The greatest concern is the potential presence of raccoon roundworm (Baylisascaris procyonis), but there are other hazards as well.

Major health risks

Raccoon roundworm (Baylisascaris procyonis)

* Raccoons commonly carry this parasite without appearing sick.
* Eggs are shed in the f***s and become infectious after approximately 2–4 weeks in the environment.
* The eggs are extremely hardy and can survive in soil for years.
* People become infected by accidentally swallowing microscopic eggs from contaminated hands, soil, dust, or objects.
* Although human infections are rare, they can be severe, causing:
* Brain and spinal cord damage
* Vision loss or blindness
* Liver and lung injury
* Permanent neurological impairment

Bacteria
Raccoon f***s may also contain harmful bacteria such as:

* Salmonella
* Escherichia coli (E. coli)
